On June 11th , 2022, Al Akhawayn community will celebrate the academic achievements of the Classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 during the 23rd Commencement Ceremony. You will find all information on this year’s Commencement here.

History of Commencements
The commencement ceremony at Al Akhawayn University is considered the highlight of every school year. It is a special time to honor and award degrees to graduating students, and formally recognize their achievements.

First Commencement
Keynote speaker: Jérôme Binde, Director of UNESCO’s Analysis and Forecasting Office.
Number of graduates:172 students graduated (85 undergraduates and 87 graduates).

Keynote speaker:Hilary Rodham Clinton, then-First Lady of the United States.
Number of graduates: 110 students graduated (93 undergraduates and 17 graduates)
Chakib Benmoussa
Former Minister of the Interior of Morocco
Chakib Benmoussa, the former Minister of the Interior of Morocco, is a respected figure in both politics and academia. Known for his leadership and dedication, he has played a crucial role in shaping the nation’s policies and ensuring the security and well-being of its citizens.
Ihssane Mounir
Senior VP of Global Supply Chain and Fabrication for Boeing Commercial Airplanes
Ihssane Mounir is the Senior VP of Global Supply Chain and Fabrication for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Previously, he was the Senior VP of Commercial Sales and Marketing. Mounir joined Boeing in 1997 and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from Wichita State University. He serves on several advisory boards and is married with four children.
Ihssane Mounir
Former Minister of the Interior of Morocco
H.E. Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, President, Special Commission on the Development Model, Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports. Chakib Benmoussa holds engineering degrees from the “Ecole Polytechnique de Paris” (1979) and the “Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées-Paris” (1981). He also holds a “Master of Science” from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology-USA (1983).
Mr. Benmoussa held several positions (Director of Planning and Studies, and Director of Roads) within the Ministry of Equipment. He served as Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Department from 1995 to 1998. He then spent a few years in the private sector as Chairman of Sonasid, President of Tangier’s Free Zone, and General Manager of the group, “Brasseries du Maroc”. In 2006, he was appointed as Minister of Interior and then, in 2011, as President of the Economic and Social Council of Morocco.
Mr. Benmoussa served as Ambassador of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to France from March 2013 to October 2021. He was appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in November 2019 as President of the Special Commission on the Development Model.
Mr. Benmoussa was appointed as Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports in October 2021.
Ihssane Mounir
Senior VP of Global Supply Chain and Fabrication for Boeing Commercial Airplanes
Ihssane Mounir is senior vice president of Global Supply Chain and Fabrication for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Appointed to this position in December 2022, Mounir is responsible for Boeing’s commercial supply chain strategies, deliverables and requirements across all airplane programs to enable increasing stability and predictability in Boeing’s supply chain and factories. In addition, he leads Boeing’s Fabrication division, including the engineering and manufacturing of millions of aerospace parts at sites in the U.S., Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Previously, Mounir served as the senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing. Appointed to this position in 2016, Mounir led sales and marketing of commercial airplanes and related services to airlines and leasing customers around the world. He led efforts to support airline partners throughout the challenges of the COVID pandemic, and as airlines adjusted business strategies to successfully prepare for passenger traffic recovery and return to profitability.
During his career, Mounir has held senior leadership positions across Boeing’s Commercial Sales and Marketing organization. He served as vice president of Sales and Marketing for Northeast Asia, including China, Japan and Korea, and vice president of Sales and Marketing Operations.
Mounir joined Boeing as an aerodynamics engineer in 1997. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from Wichita State University.
Mounir serves on the National Advisory Board of Wichita State University, the Advisory Board of Wichita State’s School of Engineering, and the Executive Council for Greater Seattle Partners. He is married with four children.
For logistical purposes, all graduating students that have cars and would like to park on campus must provide the necessary information by filling this LINK.
Please note that NO CAR WILL BE ACCESSING the campus premises unless they fill the form.
PS: note that the cars that will be allowed access to campus are cars belonging to the graduating students, not their guests. The university has made the necessary arrangements for the guests to park outside in Ifrane. More on this in the following section.
The housing department is please inform the graduating students that the housing will be offered for free for the nights:

Please make sure to confirm your presence through the link in the header before June 7th, 2022 in order to book your housing.
You can specify a roommate if you want, and you can also check out on Saturday evening after the ceremony or Sunday, you just need to mention it in the confirmation link.
Also note that you need to check out of your room (return the keys) in order to get your clearance. RAs will be available to you in your respective buildings to facilitate this operation.
PS: Note that the housing is only offered to the graduating students (their guests are not included).
